Gregory M. Schaefer serves as the chief executive officer of Schaefer Enterprises in New York City. Schaefer began his insurance career at his family’s agency on Long Island, New York. In 2010, he founded Schaefer Enterprises in New York City. Greg has expertise providing insurance for a broad range of businesses. His clientele includes restaurants, supermarkets, contractors, professional athletes, non-profits, and medical offices. Schaefer has been recognized as a regional leader in the healthcare sector. He covers many independent medical practices and has extensive experience insuring private equity roll ups.
In 2019, Schaefer partnered with Patriot Growth Insurance Services, LLC as the first exclusive property & casualty agency to join the firm. In 2020, Patriot Growth Insurance Services, LLC will become one of largest insurance agencies in the United States.
Committed to continuing education, Schaefer has earned several important industry designations. Beyond his licenses in both Property & Casualty and Life and Health Insurance, he spent five years earning the prestigious Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. He then proceeded to earn the Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designation in 2009, followed by the Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI). Today, Schaefer is a member of YPO Liberty Chapter in New York and enjoys developing new business strategies and networking with his fellow members. Over the past decade, Greg and Schaefer Enterprises have been honored with several awards including: Inc. 5000 “Fastest Growing Companies,” Insurance Business America “Top Healthcare Insurance Brokers in U.S.A. ,” “Top US Producers in U.S.A.,” and SMART CEO’s “FUTURE 50 Award.”
Schaefer graduated from Loyola University of Maryland in 1998 where he received a degree from the Sellinger School of Business. He played Division I basketball while attending Loyola University. Today, Schaefer continues his athletic career by participating in Ironman events. Most recently, he completed the Ironman World Championships at Kona, Hawaii, in 2019. He is married to Dr. Maryann Mikhail, a board certified dermatologist, and has two children, James and Jaxon. When Schaefer is not working, he enjoys exercise, traveling, and spending time with family.
